In Addition to Zayo’s Unmatched Global Network, Customers in Phoenix Will Have Access to a New Product Offer That Provides a Superior, Secure and Affordable Internet Experience
BOULDER, Colo. –
Zayo Group Holdings, Inc, a leading global provider of fiber-based communications solutions, today announced continued investment in and expansion of network infrastructure in Arizona’s Maricopa and Pinal Counties. Completion of the expansion projects is anticipated by the end of 2021 and will result in new, direct fiber connectivity to hundreds of buildings in the Phoenix metropolitan area. Driving demand for connectivity are both Arizona’s ranking as a leader in data center investment and the technology focus of the state’s major industries, which include aerospace, electronics and semiconductor manufacturing.
Zayo is also rolling out a new product offer to new and existing customers in the greater Phoenix area. The new offer, called Shielded Internet Access, includes some of Zayo’s most popular services: Dedicated Internet Access, DDoS Protection and CloudLink, all for a single price that will be competitively positioned well below current market benchmarks.
“Arizona is emerging as a major destination for webscale, cloud and large enterprise companies,” said Dan Stoll, Managing Director, Head of Regional Network Sales at Zayo. “We are committed to continued investment in the state to support customers’ demand for diverse, high-capacity fiber connectivity to enable their growth and ability to innovate. Zayo’s unmatched network, combined with the Shielded Internet Access suite of services, provides customers in the market with the connectivity that takes them anywhere they need to be in the most convenient, cost-effective and safe way possible.”
The expansion includes approximately 100 route miles in the West Valley, including Goodyear, Avondale, El Mirage and other surrounding communities, providing customers with high capacity connectivity as well as fiber path diversity. West Valley has become an increasingly popular edge market for tech companies and data center providers as a result of its location, transportation assets, abundant land and access to high-capacity power and fiber.
Additionally, Zayo is building 200 route miles of fiber in Pinal County, spanning the development areas connecting Phoenix and Tucson, as part of a federal program, known as E-rate, that provides schools, libraries, and consortia funding for internet access. Several major long haul routes provide multiple options for diverse connectivity to Phoenix and major markets on the West Coast and in the Midwest.
“Zayo’s continued investment and expansion within Arizona underscores the state’s stature as a booming hub for high-tech industries,” said Sandra Watson, President and CEO of Arizona Commerce Authority. “The fiber infrastructure provided by Zayo will support critical connectivity for the business community while also enabling continued growth in the greater Phoenix area.”
The expansion in Arizona is part of an overall upgrade to Zayo’s U.S. priority markets and includes the release of custom solutions, bundling internet and security services and enabling dedicated internet service plus distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection. Zayo’s cloud-based suite of DDoS Mitigation Services provides advanced detection and mitigation technologies. The mitigation services offer three levels of tailored protection, providing important layers of defense and monitoring on Zayo’s international Tier 1 IP security enabled network. The unique solutions provide an enterprise-class network for superior performance and a comprehensive security suite, ensuring guaranteed network availability through Zayo’s Internet Access SLA.
The new fiber will build on Zayo’s already dense metro network across Maricopa County, which includes the West Valley Economic Development zones. Through the efforts of public and private partnerships, the zones have attracted new business industries as well as entertainment and recreational opportunities, luxury housing and highly rated K-12 and post-secondary education options. As anticipated, the increased business activity and population growth has also accelerated the need for greater bandwidth and connectivity support.
